Professionl Development Certificate: Introduction

Issued by the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) Fall 2025

I have had the pleasure to learn about website programming and designing since the late 1990's. There have been a lot of successes and bumps in the road along the way, but it has always been a subject I enjoyed learning and putting into practice. In 2020 I decided to get more formal training in HTML by pursuing an IT: Web Programming associate degree as well as finish a previously started Accounting associate degree from Macomb Community College.

In 2021, I started volunteering as a teacher's assistant to the web programming department as well. That was followed up with a Bacehlor of Interdisciplinary Studies from Oakland University when I learned that with certain qualifications I would be allowed to teach other students a subject I adored. I had always wanted to be a teacher, but when plans in my earlier years fell through, I figured it was a pipe dream now.

In 2025, I was hired as an Adjunct Faculty IT Instructor at Macomb Community College in Michigan. After acquiring that position, I have tried to follow through with further certifications and professional development seminars to become a better educator. This certificate program was part of that journey in the Fall of 2025 through the college's Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and OneHE.org
